INTERNATIONAL STREAM

By choosing the International Stream at FIS, students follow a dynamic International English Curriculum that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and global citizenship, leading to the internationally recognized IGCSE and IBDP qualifications. Delivered by a native English-speaking faculty and enhanced by continuous exposure to French language and culture, this pathway ensures a rich, well-rounded education that prepares students for success in a global society.

IS EARLY YEARS

Students follow the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC), made up of units of learning which establish the foundations of the essential skills, knowledge and understanding they will need as they progress through school.

Our early years programme offers a holistic, play-led education based on the English National Curriculum and tailored for an international context.  For us, play is a universal language that supports the holistic development of every child. It is innate, enjoyable and unique, with endless possibilities. In the international stream Early Years, every child has the right to explore, express themselves and learn through play.

We nurture each child’s growth as a confident, thoughtful member of a global community, preparing them for happy, healthy, and meaningful lives. In addition to numeracy and literacy, FIS students question the world around them and are exposed to a wide range of sports and arts. Students are taught in English.

WHAT ARE Entry & Exit Points ?

They are special, engaging events that frame each unit of learning.

An Entry Point is a launch event that introduces a new IEYC unit in a fun, exciting, and memorable way. An Exit Point is a celebration at the end of the unit that allows children to showcase and reflect on what they’ve learned.

Each IEYC unit begins with an exciting Entry Point and ends with an Exit Point where parents are invited to take part in the learning journey.

INTERNATIONAL EARLY YEARS CURRICULUM - IEYC
IEYC-Accredited-Logo-2022-26-1.png

The International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) is a comprehensive, play-based curriculum framework designed for children aged 2 to 5 years.

Children’s development is supported through four learning strands: Independence and Interdependence, Communicating, Enquiring, and Physical Health and Well-Being.

Rooted in research on early childhood development, the IEYC supports holistic learning by nurturing children’s personal, social, emotional, and physical development alongside their academic growth. It encourages curiosity, creativity, and confidence through engaging, theme-based units that connect learning to real-life experiences.

The curriculum emphasizes child-led exploration, inquiry, and active learning, allowing young learners to follow their interests while developing key skills in language, numeracy, communication, and collaboration. Aligned with international best practices, the IEYC provides a flexible and inclusive approach that respects cultural diversity and supports the unique needs of every child, laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

" Through an active learning approach, our students develop empathy and resilience alongside the skills of teamwork, leadership and communication. These fundamental skills and attributes will not only equip them for the demand of secondary education but also for life itself."
